Thank you for visiting our website! Technically, Sonoita is an intersection of two state highways; emotionally, it is a state of mind. Located 45 miles southeast of Tucson, the 5,000' elevation offers climate and vegetation that are distinctively different from southern Arizona's desert regions. The elevation provides a mild "four seasons" climate with summer daytime temperatures averaging 80 - 90 degrees, and winter 55 - 65 degrees. The sun shines 340 days/year. Rainfall is approximately 20" annually, half coming in the summer monsoon season of July and August, when the grasslands turn to a lush green carpet.
Literally surrounded by National Forest and protected conservation lands, the beautiful wide open landscape and views guarantee an extraordinary experience.
Beyond the mild climate, beautiful landscape and stunning wildlife, Sonoita is rich in people. Diverse groups have come to the area from all corners of the world and share a love of its beauty and an appreciation of its uniqueness. People still hold the door for you at the Post Office, wave and smile when they meet you on the road, and enthusiastically respond to a neighbor or community need. We invite you to drop in and let one of our professionals show you some of our "Special Places".
